Home/Free vs paid apps
Comparing
Free window cleaning business apps, compared honestly
Most window cleaning round-management software charges a monthly fee, whatever the round's size. Here's what "free" actually means across the market, including for MyRound.
What "free" means for MyRound specifically
MyRound is free for as long as it's in beta — no card required to sign up, no trial clock counting down in the background. That's a deliberate choice while the app is still being tested on real rounds: charging for something still being finished isn't something we're comfortable doing. If that ever changes, existing users are told before it does, not after.
What typically stays free vs. becomes a paid tier elsewhere
| Feature | Common pattern in this market |
|---|---|
| Basic customer list | Usually free everywhere, including MyRound |
| Automatic scheduling | Often gated behind a paid tier once the customer count grows |
| Route optimisation | Frequently a premium feature, not included in entry-level plans |
| Automatic invoicing | Usually paid — this is one of the most commonly upsold features in the category |
| Number of customers | Many providers cap the free or entry tier by customer count, then charge more as the round grows |
Why most of this software charges monthly at all
Round-management software isn't cheap to run — it needs live maps, SMS delivery, payment processing and ongoing development, all of which cost money whether one customer uses it or a thousand. Charging monthly is the normal way to cover that. The fair question isn't "why does this cost money" — it's whether the price matches what a one-person round actually needs, since a lot of pricing in this category is built around teams and multi-user accounts that a solo window cleaner never touches.
What to actually check before switching software
- Is the price per user, or a flat rate regardless of team size? A solo operation shouldn't pay a per-seat price built for a team.
- Does the free or entry tier cap the number of customers? Some do, quietly, once a round grows past a certain size.
- Is route planning and invoicing included, or a separate add-on? These are often exactly the features that justify switching in the first place.
- Can you get your data out again if you switch later? A spreadsheet export option matters more than it seems until you actually need it.
- Will MyRound always be free?
- It's free while in beta. If that ever changes, existing users will be told in advance, not after the fact.
- Is there a limit on how many customers I can add?
- No customer-count cap during the beta.
- Does "free" mean fewer features than the paid alternatives?
- No — scheduling, route planning and invoicing are all included, not held back behind a future paid tier.
